FAQ’s

Q: What are 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils?
A: 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils are highly concentrated plant material. Extracted by distillation, cold or expeller pressed, they are tiny droplets from different parts of the plant. They are undiluted as some oils coming under the title ‘essential oils’ may be (containing vegetable or synthetic fillers). Because of their high quality nature – being the pure ‘life force’ or ‘essence’ of the plant- they are very effective used therapeutically. “Therapeutic Grade” is a regional term used in Utah mostly. It represents; nothing taken away – nothing added – high quality Essential oils. generally interchangeable with “100% Pure” in most other areas of the world.

Q: How do you use Essential Oils?
A: Remember, 100% Pure Therapeutic grade oils are highly concentrated – i.e. 1 drop of Peppermint oil is equivalent to about 28 cups of Peppermint tea or about a pound of product. When using the oils keep this in mind.

  1. Aromatherapy
    Small molecules are able to be diffused readily into the air and absorbed into our bodies through the olfactory and respiratory systems. You can use a diffuser. Put a drop in the bottom of your shower, drop a drop or two in your bath water, put a drop or two in warm water, put a drop on a cotton ball and sit it my you are put it in the air vent in your car, put a drop on your cloths (be careful, a few of the oils have color or resin that may stain).
  2. Apply externally on your skin.
    The oils are sensitive and listening to your intuition about where to put them is not only recommended but desirable. If you have a wart or something tiny you can put an undiluted drop or two directly on the spot. If covering a large area, like your abdomen, dilute the oil with a carrier oil (put a dine or nickel size amount of oil in your hand and then add a few drops of oil and mix with your finger, circle three times) and then apply to the area of concern. You can also dilute just before using and apply as massage oil.

Q: What are carrier oils?
A: Carrier oils are oils such as coconut or almond, used to dilute Essential oils in order to cover a large area. Carrier oils made from vegetables, nuts and seeds have some therapeutic properties of their own. Diluted and spread over the area of concern, the oil can get where you need it to go very well because there are more receptor sites.

Q: Are 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils safe to use?
A: As stated in LaRee Westover’s book ” Butterfly Miracles with Essential Oils”, with a little bit of common sense-they are not in the least “dangerous”- unlike putting toxic chemicals into the body in an attempt to make it ‘well’.

Common sense would have you start slow, use small amounts at first. Check precaution lists for those not to be used during pregnancy and for oils never to use. These lists can be found in LaRee’s book “Butterfly miracles with Essential oils”. Watch for allergies. They are plant – so if you are allergic to the particular plant the oil is extracted from, chances are- you are also allergic to the oil. Use good common sense.

Q: Will the Essential oils clog diffusers?
A: A pure oil will not clog the motor of a diffuser. Balsams and resins, because of their viscous nature, need to be cleaned from your diffuser after each use. If a carrier oil has been added, they w ill most definitely cause problems with the motor of even your most expensive diffuser

Q: How are Pure Essential Oils made?
A: Several different methods are used;

One method is distillation. These oils are created at higher temperatures than 140 degrees. Storing these at room temperature will preserve their quality- cooler temperature storage offers no advantage. If your oil gets hot (i.e. in the car in the heat) leave the lid on until it cools down to room temperature a gain. The lighter, smaller molecule components will rise to the top and would escape if opened when real hot, so keep the lid on until they have cooled down.

Another method is Cold pressed or expeller method. These oils are derived from fruits and rinds of citrus fruits and are cold pressed or expeller pressed, not distilled. In the technical sense they are not essential oils since they are not processed by distillation.
